I have a problem with my 55 fish only. last weekend, the water became very cloudy and green in color. Called lfs, he told me it was an algea bloom and to try to increase air bubbles. This has not worked. any other ideas on how to get rid of this? it looks terrible!! did a 25% water change on monday night and changed the carbon in the two penguin 330 filters as well. any help would be appreciated. thanks,
john :help:

I had the exact some problem. Reduce the air bubbles first. Do a 10% water change every 4-5 days, and get a bottle of Marine Tank Clarifier. It took about 3 weeks but now crystal clear. Also reduce the amount of time your lights are on by half.

if u use a clarifier you need to have your oxygen level very hight and carbon shoulld not be used when using a clarifier most brands say to remove the carbon before use
If you have a algea bloom then u need to find the source of the problem, test for nitrate and phosphates to see if they're high also clean prefilters and see if your over feeding your fish

Yes I forgot, take out your carbon if you choose to use a chemical. the clarifier had no negative effects on any of my fish or inverts or corals. just dont overdose. but it is not for everyone.

Well, the lfs said to let it run its course. there is still no improvement. all fish are fine, water quality is good, just looks cloudy green color. cant see fish unless they are right by the glass

I use pro clear additive. It clears up in 2 days.
I would go with the additive unless that happens alot. I hardly use it.
