cloudy tank

Ok here is the deal...I set my new tank up at about midnight lastnight. I used playsand (because of expenses... the old tank leaked) and I seeded it with my old sand. Still tonight it is really brown and muckey looking. I am running a HOT filter and a protine skimmer and I only have one power head in it as of right now. I even changed the filter from the Hot filter ... it was full of muddy brown water. Is this normal..... how long will it take to clear up? My las tank was a 20gal and I used a mix of play sand and crushed coral and it cleared up in about 24 hours . But this is a 46 gallon so it is much bigger

Same i do this and lean the buck little and let the fluffy parts flow over top with all the muck.

Well it has ben about 36 hours since i set the tank up and I can now see allthe way through the tank
It is still cloudy but getting much better. I have been rinseing the filter every few hours and it seems to be doing the job.
