Cloudy water

OK i have a 30gal tank and the water just seemed to get cloudy this week after I added a leather cutting my dad gave my last weekend. I thought the filter pads might need cleaned but this did not seem to help. I also did a 10-15% water change with no results. I have a flameback angel and clown and several shrimp, snails, crabs and about 25# of live rock and 30# of live sand. Any ideas what could cause the cloudiness or ideas how to get the water to clear.

yeah i placed carbon in the filter. Do you think I should change the foam padding? or could it be something local water? its the first time setting up a tank where i live.

I had a rather bad cloudy water problem in my 29gal. I had an algae bloom and a bacterial bloom at the same time. If the cloudiness is white, it is a bacterial bloom. If it is greenish, it is an algae bloom.
I told my LFS my problem and they said that I was feeding too much (every day to every other day). They were crapping too much for the biological filtration to handle. He told me not to feed them until it cleared up.
This is what I did:
I followed his advice and stopped feeding them. (Apparently fish can safely go about 5 days between feedings)
I did a 20% waterchange with RO/DI water that I got at the LFS. (Couldn't hurt, I had been using tap)
I turned off the light and covered my tank with a towel for a day to help start killing the algea bloom. (I didn't have corals like you do.)
About 4 days later, it was crystal clear!
I've since switched to 3 days between feedings.

What kind of fish are you keeping? I dont think one feeding every 3 days is good for your fish... unless they're getting food from the tank like copepods or something.
