Has anyone seen this yet? Does it live up to the hype?
Would you recommend seeing it?
How do you all think this movie will turn out?

That was my thought. From what I've seen, I don't think it'll be too great.

I think it'd be good or ok at least, but just another Godzilla movie. If I went I wouldn't go in with too high of expectations, and at the prices movies are at today, I may just wait and rent it.

the PG13 comment is dead on. they shouldn't pretend to make a "horror" movie if it's not rated R.
I went to see "30 Days of Night" and while it was not my favorite movie, at least it WAS a god's honest rated r horror movie. if it's not rated r, it ain't got blood and guts. and if it ain't got blood and guts, it ain't a horror movie.

Is cloverfield even supposed to be a horror movie? It seems a lot like godzilla to me, some giant monster attacking NYC.

well, a monster that goes around killing people is something that I would suppose is meant to be a horror movie. I don't know or study all the sub-genres; to me, there are 4 genres of movies: drama, comedy, horror, and animated/family movies. so yeah, in my categorization, I would think this one should fall under horror. maybe a 5 genre would be "sci-fi" but I'd say that even most sci-fi movies fall under either drama or horror.

Cloverfield is a place in Central Park if Im not mistaken. And its definitely a Godzilla-esque movie. Some company has locked the rights to the word "Godzilla" until 2010, so we wont be hearing any rumors of a movie using "Godzilla" until then.
A few of my friends saw it tonite, Ill let you know how it was.

All the releases out right now are fakes. Nobody has a working copy yet.

Saw it tonight. Wow, I really liked it. Wasn't expecting much, but I think it really delivered. The handi-cam shooting is pretty cool too, I didn't have a problem with the motion sickness but some did. The PG-13 is completely irrelevant, it's not really a 'horror' movie, more fast pace scary, think War of the Worlds. There's still some gore/body flinching going on too.
I would really recommend seeing it in the theaters, just like Children of Men was great in theaters, but only pretty good at home, I think Cloverfield will play the same way.

10 to 1 they introduce Monthra...
Why does Hollywood kill the classics?
Maybe they need another writer's strike to put Dracula's stake through it's heart...

Hmmm, it sounds pretty good. I may have to go see it sometime. I'm not a huge horror film fan, but this one looks pretty good.

I've seen "scary" movies that were rated PG-13 and didn't suck. They were still suspensefull they just didn't have blood spraying everywhere. Don't get me wrong it's not that I'm against that sort of thing, my fav. movie right now is Sweeney Todd(if you haven't you need to see it) and there's plenty of blood in that, I'm jus saying a PG-13 rating doesn't always make a movie suck.
