my maroon clown just laid eggs on the glass. i've had this one clown for almost 4 years now and she has never done this before. I just wondering why she all of the sudden laid eggs. There are no other clowns in the tank so there not fertilized but she hangs around all day likes she thinks they're gonna hatch (poor dumb fish). Just curious if anyone has seen this before and why it happened. (anyone for caviare?).
here are some pics.

Maybe it thinks its like that shark in that public aquarium that had a baby and didn't have any contact to any other sharks in several years.

i don't think they're gonna hatch they seemed to have turned white and there is only about half of them left i just though it was wierd that she laid them. how long does it take for clown to hatch anyway ?:)

They take between 6 and 15 days to hatch, but if they are opaque they are dead, I would remove them unless you are confident that the filter system can deal with the load. It could cause the female a lot of stress if you try to remove the eggs. Hook her up with a male clown and make some babies;)

clowns are all born males. the most dominate clown in a group will turn into a female. (can't turn back to male). If the female leaves, dies, what ever, the next dominate male becomes a female. The easiest way to pair them up is to get them very young/small. I think you will have a hard time finding a mate for you fish if she is very old/big. I'm no expert, but have clowns and this is what I have been told. I have a mated pair, but bought them that way, didn't put them together myself.:)
