clown fish (nemo) died

one of our clown fish just died can we add another one to make a pair?

Probably, what species?
There was a recent post about pairing Maroons. You might want to search for that.

now only have one would like to get another if we can
also have a damsel in tank that keeps chasing the clowns could that have killed it? damsel was in tank first

Was it the larger or smaller Clown that died?
Clownfish are Damsels and can usually hold their own unless the other Damsel was larger.
First item of business would be to positively identify your Clownfish. Most Ocellaris are sold as Percula so you need to ID it seperate from the name it was purchased under.
Although Percula and Ocellaris often bond, you'll have better odds if both Clownfish are of the same species.
