ElvisA--to answer your question, many fish will "fade" at night, its sort of a defense mechanism--so they aren't so noticeable to predators. If you notice your fish looking pale like that during the day, that's another story--could be a sign of stress or illness. At night, perfectly normal.

Hey Dan thanks... I've never heard of a black jacket perc... must be a common name used out there on the west coast... but I have always loved true percs... especially those with the black like mine... when I setup my 180 next year I'll get him a mate... unfortunately the retailer didn't know where this guy came from, but I suppose the different color variants are geographic mostly... anyway happy clowning all...
