Clown fish tank

I was wondering if you were gonna set up a clown fish nano tank for breeding what size would be best? Cost? Baby tank size? Baby tank cost?

I would get a pair of Ocellaris and use a 20 long and have no other fish in with them. Place several flat and smooth rock drill a hole in them and tie a string threw them. Place them in different spots. They get very aggressive during nesting and will chase and bit the other tank mates to keep them away from there nest, also the reason for the string to pull the rock out without being bit. You will also need a 10 gal tank to raise the young in and rotifers for food. There is a lot of other stuff as well, just do a search many threads on the subject.

29 are to tall go with a 30 long then, you need more surface area for gas exchange. Flat rock is for the clowns to lay there eggs on, they prefer a smooth surface, mine lay there eggs in the silicone in the back corner of the tank.

Texas hole rock has smooth spots on it. Not sure what you meant by "not sand instead of flat rock" you'll need sand substrate. But not in the fry tank. As for $ got to your local pet store find there package deal on a 30gal set up, but I would see if they would let you upgrade the HOB to the next size unit. Throw away the carbon cartridge and put a sponge in there, add a power head and Live Rock and you have a tank. I would also add macro algae to the display like shaving brush or Halimeda or both.

I ment sand instead of rock bc wouldn't that be softer?
On both tanks I'm just goin to use hang on the back filters and a sponge filter on the baby tank

Yes sand for the bottom of the display none need in grow out tank. No filtration in grow out tank, the fry will caught in it. Filtration for the fry tank can be kept in the DT to keep bacteria alive, then added to fry tank when the fry are strong enough not to be sucked into it.

I mean y do I need the smooth rock if I'm goin to have sand on the bottom? Can't I just net the eggs out and place them in the fry tank.
do I need to acclimate the eggs?
Filter for fry tank with sponge guard or no filter at all?

The clowns will not lay there eggs in the sand nor are they floating on top of water, they attach them to a smooth surface. No filter in the beginning only after they are stronger swimmers. I suggest you do some research on the subject a lot of good info on line.

I will I always research I'm just on a school thing so I just don't have time plus I research before I buy that's just common since
