clown fish with reef

my clown fish has been nipping at my mushroom. now my mushroom is shrunk and i am wondering if he is dying. i was told clown fish are excellent fish for reef tanks.

Hmmm, I Have 2 clownfish and quite a few mushroom corals and havn't had any problems like this. Is your clown actually biting the coral and just pestering it? Clownfish have been known to host in a large variety of things besides anenomes, including mushroom corals. He may be trying to determine if thats where he wants his home to be.
I know my 2 clowns like on side of the tank more than the other and the bigger of the two will try to nudge or nip my habd if its on "her" side of the tank.
You might want to try moving the mushroom a bit if the clownfish keeps it up. Hope this helps...

thanks you guys. i will keep an eye on it and try moving my shroom to see if this helps. the shroom doesnt have bite marks so i think the clown is just pestering it!

i had a false perc that nipped me, but never anything else inthe tank....it scared the heck outta e too...id be working in the tank then WHAM the little guy up and decides to much me and it scares me so much that i get water all over the place!
