Can clown fish survive in fish only tanks?

Sure, depending on what other fish you plan to put with it. What did you have in mind for tankmates?

I have four gobies, yellow tang, pygmy angel, purple with yellow damsel (I was told is harmless and peaceful), blenny. the tank is 80 gallons

I would think a pair of smaller clowns would round out your tank really well.

Percs or ocellaris are hard to beat for sturdiness, personality and good looks. Plus aquacultured specimens are easy to find and not terribly expensive - there's really no downside imho.
