I have heard people say that aquacultured clowns have a longer life span in captivity. Just keep that in mind also.

Yeah this being my first 2 fish ever in a salt tank I wanted to get something hearty so I will wait till they get more. Thanks for the replies :happyfish

I have never heard "not to pair wild caught clowns" before . I have paired two wild Perculas with no problems and have a wild and tank bred Ocellaris paired together . Also have a pair of wild Clarkiis and a pair of Onyx Perculas that are tank raised from wild caught parents .
So wild or tank raised will be healthy and fine as long as your water parameters are in line . Wild clowns take a little longer to get comfortable to people than captive bred . But I can hand feed all my clowns , wild or not .

So it will be OK to buy 2 wilds? My water is fine its very nice to hear from someone who has them! Thanks for the reply maybe you can give me a few tips on what to feed them and such I don't want to press my luck but it would help!
Thanks Steve

Two wilds will be fine . For feeding , it depends on the fish . I have found some clowns are really picky . I feed mine a combination of different flake foods [Formula One , Two , and Prime Reef are some good flake foods] , frozen Brine and mysis shrimp , frozen squid , Cyclopeeze, Krill to name a few . I hatch live Brine shrimp once and a while [just because they like it] . Try a few different foods to see what they like . I have 4 Ocellaris clowns that love algae base foods and others that don`t .

Why wouldn`t you ?

Clownfish are a hardy fish .

I had it in mind to order the fish from this site but with the min order of 79.00 not including the fuel charge for live goods it would put my tank at risk of a bio over load.I had in mind just a couple clowns and a cleaner shrimp and maybe a clam or 2.I added the list up and had to keep adding fish so had to cancel my order:(I will look at my lfs tomorrow I really appreciate you taking the time to help me out

There is another good place to order online . I can`t post the link but they sell "live aquaria " with just a $29 minimum order .

i heard clowns don't do to well during shiping..but false clowns ship better then true clowns and less agressive towards eachother..
To get an order of $79..u can add corals or inverts..u don't have to just get fish...

I bought my clowns today at my lfs and a cleaner shrimp the corals i have to wait till I upgrade my lights so I'm putting that on hold for now just wanted a couple fish to keep the load down because its a new tank.
Thank You to everyone that helped!

wat kind of lights do u have.. just clowns and shrimp doesn't really need that bright of a light.PC or t-5 do just fine unless u want to keep some hard corals and clams in the future...then go with mh..

I have stock lights at the moment but i'm going to upgrade soon. All I want is maybe green frog spawn or some kind of clam maybe an open brain.Im looking at what i need "light" wise and doing my homework.Thank for for taking the time to help me.

I disagree. Clowns are quite hardy fish--particularly as fish you might actually want to keep go. The various damsels people often recommend often turn into a nightmare down the road as they can be quite aggressive and are almost impossible to remove.
