Hiya,
Are there different colors for these guys? I asked my LFS and they said they only get the dark brown ones.

Hiya,
Thanks Bang. Do you know if the price of these guys varies with the color? Also can you keep more then one in a 37 galloon?

Depends on how many other fish you got. I wouldn't say the clown gobies would be too much for your tank in terms of bioload as long as your tank isn't overstocked.
BTW, the black clown gobies will change color when they mature. Their body stays black but their head turns to a shade of red/violet.

Hiya,
Duke, I don't have any fish in the tank right now. I'm trying to stay with fish about 2" in length so I can have a number of small fish in the tank.
OOoh, you wouldn't happen to have a picture of a mature Black would you?

The Green Clown usually sells for about $7-12 at your LFS.
The Citron is about the same, maybe about $8-12.
The Black Clowns are the cheapest for some reason. I've seen them as low as $6.50.
In a 37 gal, you can have one of each, they're very peaceful together. I probably wouldn't put anymore than 3. They're aggressive only against their own kind but that only happens if they're too cramped in a small tank.

Hiya,
Cool! I'll have to see what my LFS would charge for a black and a green.
Ohhh, if by stupid chance they breed is it wrong to breed two different colors together? I know in birds you don't breed to different species together because of hybidization. Are they different species or are they different color mutations?

Don't know the answer to your breeding question. I truly doubt clown gobies will breed in a tank unless the conditions were perfect. Regarding color hybrids, my guess is that different colored gobies won't mate with each other.

Hiya,
Duke, thats what I figured, but thought I'd check. Folks in the bird world are pretty outspoken about hybrids.

Clown Gobies will breed providing you get a male & female of the same species. There are at least two seperate species of fish sold as Clown Gobies. They are easy to distinguish.
I honestly don't know if color makes a difference.
