Clown Goby questions

I'm really interested in these now after reading up a little on them and seeing a pic of a rusty clown in another thread. I want to know if I can mix these guys? I have a 29 gal reef with many many hiding places, fish-wise i have a watchman, firefish, scooter, and O clown. A lfs has a black one with several yellow ones in a little tank and I figured I could at least mix these. What I truly want is a Rusty Clown Goby with a Yellow Clown goby, can i mix these guys safely considering hiding spots are easy to come by in my tank? Also, bioload wise, I have like 3 filters made for tanks 4+ the size of my tank.

as far as fish go id go only w/ one clown, as it seems u already have quite a few fish for a 29gal, i dont think u should have one cuz u already have alot of bottom dwelling fish and they may fight for supremacy

I have always read that two or more clown gobies no matter what color wil fight. That said, I have a 30 gal cube with 5 yellow clown gobies in it and no signs of any fighting. Also i that is a yellow watchman and a bi color blenny and all seem to get along just fine.
The LFS here has lots of various colored clown gobies that they keep (never sell) in their coral tanks and they apear to do fine also.

I don't have many tankmates... especially consider i pump over 600 gph so bioload isnt a problem at all. The only fish to ever shows fighting ways is the watchman, he just opens his mouth really big, but never does anything, becuz the scooter will run into the watchman when it does this and acts like nothing is there.

No, clown gobies may be mixed, and they are not bottom dwellers, they actually like to reside in corals. Ive heard you can keep quite a few in any given tank, considering full size, is no more that an inch. You might be able to keep two. Ive heard they pair easily.

one of those fish where all the literature will say not to mix but in practice I have kept more than one of different species (green and yellow) and have never see aggression. they even perched on the same coral together.

they are also hermaphroditic so if you get two of the same type they could become a pair

I'm aiming at a Rusty with a Yellow so I will try it, I've personally seen 4 yellow mixed with a black in a small display tank at my lfs. Any pics would be appreciated, also, wat corals do they prefer to perch upon... any? I only have zoos, frogspawn, and various mushrooms :(

We had a little yellow clown goby that liked to hang out on the mushrooms. He dissappeared a couple of months ago and we suspect our Sally Lightfoot got him. Crab has been taken care of and I am looking for another clown goby.

i have two yellow clown gobies that nested in the same piece of acropora... with that said thats why i put them in my other non-reef tank so that they wouldnt ruin my acro anymore.. but they never fight they actually get along very well

yes any damn thing but in the wild they almost strictly host acropora and will peel back the flesh from off the skeleton to nest. here are a few pics of mine perching. unless you have a whole lot of acropora and dont mind them damaging a head or two they arent a good choice with that coral.
