I noticed today that my female percula has a "bump" on the side of her mouth. She has been eating fine and seems to be acting okay. I tried to search for info but every time I do, it tells me the server is too busy and cannot retrieve info at that time. Any ideas?
I have no picture b/c she won't be still enough to get one. The fish is several months old. She has a "boyfriend" so he may be the culprit or it might be from her trying to get ready to lay eggs. It is not discolored, just raised skin. I will try to take more pics last night for all to see....
Wow, what is that attached to the bump? I'm wondering if she's got a cyst? Did that develop over time or suddently appear? Do you have corals in your tank?
I'm sorry I just can't tell you what that is. It could be a cyst, in which case there is not much that can be done. How is the fish doing, aside from this?
Try offering her food soaked in freshly minced garlic, collecting the juice and allowing meaty fish food to soak this up. Feed the 2x a day, and for the 3rd feeding, soak her food in zoecon.
Do you think that spot is a parasite??
I have no idea what it is... It doesn't look like a parasite, hasn't gotten any bigger, and does not move. I'll feed w/ garlic. She is still doing okay as far as I can tell.
I have 4 baby ocellaris in my tank and one of them just got this last week. He has one right under his lip it is about the same size and protrudes from his face like that too! (seriously it looks like he has a gross herpes sore!) There is also one on his side by his fin it's much smaller which makes me believe it's NOT lymphocytis like the lfs guy and the guys on wet web media think. Did the garlic and zoecon help? I don't know what to do, b/c now the very edges of his fins are starting to look a tad frayed he's still super active and energetic and eating fine though but I am worried bc of how his fins look. All the other fish are fine and I do have corals in the tank an umbrella leather and a green star polyp.
