im not breeding expert but you will need a seperate tank because the filter will suck up the eggs you will need special food and wait till the clowns are pairs just look on these post people have done it before theres a step by step thread here

Actually there is nothing to do to get them to breed. Its all on their own weather or not to become a mated pair. Once this has been established and they have mated and laid eggs, hatching a fry is a completly different story.
This is where rotifiers need to be cultured to feed the fry, phyto used to feed the rotifiers. Getting the fry out of your DT into their own tank so they can be cared for.. etc etc.. its pretty involved.

The chances of them fighting are slim unless they are both females or of different species....Im suprised a LFS would tell you that unless they know that one of the above is the case....
Breeding clowns can be involved and require some extra/special equipment and knowledge....plenty of time to learn from here and simular sites and books.

There are alot of variables needed to be taken into consideration when you plan to breed. Other live stock preying on your fry if they should hatch in your DT. Your filtration system and power heads sweeping them into your filter and killing them all. Also the amount of food needed and the frequency of their feedings would most definatly crash your tank. From the little I have read its involved. And the fry young are very very fragile in the beginning.

Pretty much, yes. You'll want to tint the water green with phyto to help keep the rotifers nutritional, and to help with depth perception. Daily water changes for the first few.... I highly recommend the book
