Clown killed my BTA??

I purchased a BTA the other day for my tank and it was all well and what not....the tips were full and the mouth was colorful. One of my clowns took a liking the the anenome which made me pretty happy. I woke up today and noticed the clown rustling around in it and the anenome's tips were shriveled up and it's mouth was open and it was all white around it. Help!!!!

Hey,
Well there is definately something going on but I don't think the clown did it. Have you checked your water? Could there be an aggressive coral near by that sent out stingers over night?

JoeJoe,
I have had a green BTA for a couple of weeks now, and mine did the same thing for the first week. I have posted on many boards asking what its deal is, as well as getting my trusted LFS guy (not the same LFS guy that I bought the BTA from) to take a look of before and after pics of it, test my water conditions and see that my lighting is good enough. Once all that was established and found to be adequate, the only other assumption I was given is that the BTA is acclimating itself to my water, which could take up to a week or so-maybe more. My BTA moved all over the tank becuse it was not happy for the first week. Make sure you wrap your filter and powerhead intakes with a foam guard (can be purchased at LFS for about 5 bucks). Cut it down and just slip it over the intakes to avoid the anenome from getting sucked up and destroyed. Keep your water parameters good, and give it enough lighting and it should be fine. Mine is doing great now. It shrivels up like that only about every other day, and when I turn off the lights, it opens back up (I guess I got a BTA that doesn't like too much light)
You'll figure out its behavior and get accustomed to what it wants. Having a clown helps the BTA's stress level a great deal.
Good Luck!

I really hope it's just acclimating itsself to my water. It was full looking on Wednesday and Thursday but today it's lookin pretty shriveled. My water is fine and he couldn't ask for any better lighting. I'm gonna do a water change tomorrow and I'll definately keep an eye on him.

By the way, here's a pic of my BTA the first week. Actually this pic looks great compared to some of the moments-- it looked awful.

Oh also right when I placed my anemone into my tank, it nestled down where it was placed. My maxijet ph's come with a little cone that you can place over the intake, so I should be fine there. I'll keep you all updated!!

And here it is now, all nice and comfy in a shady spot.
Not sure why it picked to be upside down, but this is where its been for a week now, and doesn't seem like it's unhappy with it.

Hey,
Shanna, do you clean the back glass of your tank or is it fairly new? Just curious. I don't clean my back glass and its covered in coralline. Now I'm debating which look I prefer.

whats the gallons on your tank?
If your anenome found a shady spot and stays there, then let it do its thing.
If you find it moving more than once a week, it's probably unhappy, and researching your lighting is one of the things you can do.
I'm so happy he's looking better.
much luck to you :)
:cheer: :D

Dan, yes its a fairly new tank. I plan on letting the coraline go where it wants as well. (except for the front and sides of course)
It's a clean look, but boring IMO. I can't wait for my coraline :)
