I decided to buy one of these will come tomorrow.
1-can they live with any level of copper in thier aquarium ?
2-if I have copper in my tank and the level was 1.5 i did a 60 percent water change will that be enough t o make the copper non toxic to this shrimp.
3-if that is not enough will placing a bag of chemi-pure in the 10 gallon DT rid the tank od copper?
4-any other info about this shrimp would help..it is going by itself in a 10 gallon tank and i plan on feeding it frozen mysis shrimp.

The clown mantis is another name for a peacock mantis. It is an invert, so I don't think that any copper would be good for it. If you look up Dr. Roy's List of Stomatopods on google, that will give you information on the species. You would want to click on Ondactyllus Scyllarus since that is their scientific name. As far as getting rid of the copper, I am not sure about that.

SH2000 I have been dieing to ask you.. exactly how many tanks do you have and what sizes are they?
This isnt a question to flame you.. my reason for asking is I remember when you first posted and shortly after you hit the boards with various questions on just about every topic. The questions you ask for the most part are what you would hear from people that are new to the hobby (again not flaming) what throws me is through the posts I read of yours it appears that you have various tanks and some that are quite large.. is this true? Honestly I am just curious. I was thinking the other day about it and I said to myself I have to ask him, were these all aquired at once?.. and if so man you must have quite a spread with a ton of room to have this many tanks all at once. Either that or your starting a fish store... LOL... If you dont want to answer thats cool Im just being inquisitive, thats all.

No problemo ! firsy of all I'm a girl, secondly I rent a cuzins summer hosue in Deal,NJ with a roomate or housemate, my cuzins come down here for a few weeks in the summer...but I live here all year round.
Regarding the tanks I started 3 years ago with a 10 gal,and a 30 gal frshwater...I then shortly afterwards got a 10 gal saltwater, then 2 55's (1-FOWLR,2-RT) saltwater...that was the basic core for 2 years and I converted all to saltwater save for the 30 which recently was converted to sw..I also about 3 weeks ago upgraded my 55 reef tank to a 120 and put all my corals inverts and fish into my 120 which has bean running for a few weeks without the fish they are in a 55 qt going through hypo..going great ,so to summarize I have 2 10 gallons,1, 30 gallon,2 55 gallons, and a 120 gallon all hardly large...I also might be acquiring a 72 inch from a friend who is going to study abroad..that still is not for sure. Hope this answered all your questions if you have anymore please feel free to PM or ask
The house I live in is quite large and my uncle only cares that there are no floods and they give me a break and my friend on rent.

LOL good deal sorry bout the gender mixup tough to tell with a user name of SH2000. LOL.
I can see now where I was reading what appeard to be a number of tanks was you upgrading to various other sizes.. Not that you dont have a lot, IMO you do. And I would consider a 120 not enormous but definatly large IMO. Good deal thanks for the reply...

That stinks...they are great creatures to have. Great personalities and lots of fun to watch. Yeah, he would def need to be in a species only tank, and Peacocks or Clown Mantis Shrimp do need a minimum of a 30 gal. tank (or a 20 long, which has the footprint of a 30 gal.). They get to be about 7 in. and are extremely active. Mine is only about 3 1/2 inches long and is constantly exploring and running around every inch of my 20 long, literally

I'm not sure where you planned on getting yours from, but do a search on google for "stomatopod".
