clown question

just got a new clown and and its chin is really light orange, almost white. is this anything or just how the clown looks

All fish are different looking. It probably is not a problem, but a picture would help verify if it is or not. Is the clown acting normal and eating well?

I just got him yesterday. he is very active, and nibbled on a few flakes yesterday.

1 got my clown on fr1day ocellars (sp?), and ton1ght wh1le feedng 1 not1ced many small spots on the f1ns and only on the clear part of the caudal f1n. they look almost to small to be 1ch. sorry 1 can't post a p1c, no camera. 1s there a d1sease w1th very t1ny spots? 1 almost couldn't tell unless 1 look really closely. the clown 1s very small, maybe and 1nch and a half.

Take a look at the disease thread at the top of this forum and tell me if your fish looks like any of the pictures.

the spots look to small to be 1ch. the closet th1ng is maybe brookneyla, but just on the of the caudal f1n. but 1t doesnt have the overall gray1sh f1lm on the ta1l. 1t maybe spread1ng on the body but because of the br1ght orange body and the very small spots 1ts hard to tell. some angles look l1ke 1t may be spread1ng, and other agles 1t doesn't look l1ke 1t 1s spread1ng.

That is velvet, and far worse than ich, IMO. They reproduce faster and kill quicker. What all is in the tank right now as far as fish, rock, and inverts?

there is a mesh insert with activated carbon, and then another insert that is like a sponge with large wholes, ment for good bacteria.

Oh okay, great. I would probably do a hyposalinity treatment to the fish in that tank. Over the next few days though, you want to slowly take out the live rock. I would take out a pound or two each day. This way, you don't cause an ammonia spike. To be on the safe side, you may even want to pick up a bottle of Turbo Start to ensure that your ammonia does not spike while you are removing the live rock.
What is the pH and kH of this tank? Do you know?
Beth has a great thread at the top of this forum explaining the proper way to do hyposalinity. I would suggest you read that as well.

when i got home today the fish was dead.
how long will marine velvet be in my tank, and when is it safe to add a fish?

I would let it run fishless for 6 weeks.
