I bought an anemone for my clowns and they never went in it for as long as I had the anemone. I guess some clowns just don't like them.

Clowns have their own specific anemone species that they will inhabit. some clowns arent picky and will live with anything that looks slightly like one. other clowns wont go into anything but what they are naturally found with. for example, Condalactis anemones are from the pacific ocean and clownfish come from the atlantic, and this is why it is incredibly rre to fins a clownfish that will go with one. here is a list of the anemones that are compatible with particulare clowns.
False Percula Clown
Amphiprion ocellaris Carpet anemone,
Ritteri (Maroon) anemone
Saddle anemone
Bubble anemone
Percula Clown
Amphiprion percula Carpet anemone,
Ritteri (Maroon) anemone
Saddle anemone
Bubble anemone
"Sebae" Clown
Amphiprion clarkii Sebae anemone
Long Tentacle anemone
Ritteri (Maroon) anemone
Carpet anemone
Saddle anemone
Bubble anemone
Tomato Clown
Amphiprion frenatus Bubble anemone
Long Tentacle anemone
Sebae anemone
Maroon Clown
Premnas biaculatus Ritteri (Maroon) anemone
Bubble anemone
Long Tentacle anemone
Pink Skunk Clown
Amphiprion perideraion Long Tentacle anemone
Sebae anemone
Ritteri (Maroon) anemone
Carpet anemone
Saddle anemone
Bubble anemone
Here are the scientific names of the anemones:
Bubble anemone = Entacmaea quadricolor
Long tentacle anemone = Macrodactyla doreensis
Sebae anemone = Heteractis malu
Ritteri (Maroon) anemone = Heteractis magnifica
Carpet anemone = Stichodactyla gigantea
Saddle anemone = Stichodactyla haddoni
I hope this helps. Good luck!

That is some great info. I just recently bought a sebae anemone and my false percula hasn't even gone to it. At the fish store they had sebae anemones with false percs and they were all doing fine. Just hope mine comes around to liking it as well. Any tips on just feeding the anemone? Any help would be great. Thanks.

Nope. It's learned behavior. A lot of tank raised fish won't take to an anemone. In the wild, clownfish need the anemone during their larval stage. They just get used to being around it, find protection in it, etc.
Feed the anemones chunks of squid, krill, etc. Just stick it on their oral disc (don't cram it, set it lol)

Also, I have read that a mated pair of clowns are sometimes less likely to take to an anemone, and I have witnessed this in my tank so far. 2 false percs that are mated in my tank will not go into either of my anemones. Its been a couple of months.
Maybe they dont feel they need the protection or they were tank bred? dont know.

VERY old thread....
But I would imagine that yes, they mean a fresh (probably RAW) shrimp from the supermarket.
