clown stuck in overflow

Hi all,
Does anyone have any easy way to get a clown out of my overflow? There isn't much room for a net let alone a net and my arm, and he's staying near the bottom. If I pull the drain tube I would have room but obviously the fish would most likely go down with the water.
Thanks

if you can fit your hand in there i would try and catch it that way, you might stress him a bit but nothin major.

Overflow is built in the tank. Almost able to net the bugger last night but finally gave up after seriously stessing us both out. No room to maneuver net when I could get close. I may have to drain the overflow carefully.
Thanks

i have a 12 gallon JBJ nanocube and my clownfish constantly jumps in the back area by the bioballs. Hes a smart little bugger though so when i go to take him out he greets me at the top of the water and doens't put forth much of a fight when i remove him. I just use the top cover of these carbon filters i have and get it underneath him against the wall and lift him into the tank, its happend like 4 times until i bought this fine plastic grate kinda thing that i put over the back, hes recovered all 4 times with no noticable damage or stress to him (maybe since hes tank raised hes used to this stuff lol) :jumping:

I am assuming you are using one of the smallest nets you can get? Then (assuming you aren't already) you can try to tape it to an extension...a wooden dowel, small pvc, etc so that you don't have to try and get your whole arm down there. Hopefully that way it is long enough so you can get a clear view of him. Good luck!

Finally tired him out enough to net him. Luckily I have long arms and could reach the bottom of tank with net only. Hopefully didn't strees him out too much, but only time will tell. My other clown seems to be pestering him at the moment. Any reason I can' cover the top of the overflow without blocking the holes the water flows through?
Thanks for all the suggestions.

LoL i orginally had 2 clowns, and 1 jumped back there and I thought he had died in the rocks, but then I found him in the back a few days later, he ended up dying after I got him out. I think my other clownfish thinks hes still back there cause hes always swimming around the back awww lol
