as with all Acanthurus spp, greens will be the most important. you might have to feed some mysis shrimp to get the fish to eat though. once eating i would do nori on a clip at least once a day along with mysis and formula 1 and 2 frozen.

I think dawman in his own way was saying Please do some research before the purchase there are alot of animals that are being sold in the hobby that have special needs or are very difficult to care for. and without doing research first you could get into the situation of a bad fish purchase that could cause massive problems later on.

Dear hobbyist , In order for you to keep a Clown Tang you'll need richly oxygenated water . I brought my clown tang almost a year ago and I feed it spiralina,brine shrimp,Hilkari pellets,dried sea weed,and even formula one and it has grown to nearly 6".It can be aggressive towards other tangs though . Excellent fish !

Dear Hobbyist, my clown tang lives in my 150 gallon aquarium .And by the way , I too was told that this fish was for experts only, but i defied the odds . You will have fun with this fish. Its colorful ,aggressive at times ,and its head changes to a dark gray color when its upset . Have fun!

Pristine water,lots of oxygen,lots of greens,Formula II, and a lot of luck. I think this is one of THE most difficult fish to keep; usually recommended for "experts" only. I hope you do well with this fish; but if he doesn't make it, don't beat yourself up...just learn and do research before you buy. Very few of us haven't made a big mistake or two; just don't make the same one twice. I don't know where you bought the fish; but if it was from a lfs, you should be able to trust them---but, very often, you can't.

If he said the clown tang is ok for a 65gallon then I'd take his advise with a grain of salt. I am in no means part of the tang police, I think some tangs are fine in a 65 gallon but not this tang. I have wanted to get a clown tang for a long time for my 125 sps system but have been hesistant because I don't feed enough to support this fish and I don't think my tank is large enough.
