Sorry to be a kill joy. But your tank is too small theres really nothing you can do to keep both of them in your tank without the lion's eventual death by being picked on and fins niped maybe if it was a 400gal but even still clown triggers are known to be one of the most aggressive triggers out there and kill anything that gets in their way. so i would see if you could return that trigger you just got or choose between the trigger or the lion. good luck on your choice

Triggers with lions are a big no no as far as I know. The trigger will end up killing the lion.

There are very few "definates" in this hobby...Generally speakingLions do not do well with the "bad boy triggers", the Clown definately falls in that catagory. There are exceptions to the rule, but in general Triggers nip at slow moving fish, it may work for quite a while, but CT's are known to "snap" and get very very nasty overnight....There is a guy on here that has that combo in a similar sized tank and they are doing well, I think "sk8shorty" is his name, again there is always an exception to the rule.

You have plenty of time, don't do anything rash...Clown Trigs grow somewhat slow, and you have a qt if things go bad at the start, put them together and see what happens...What else is in the tank?

in the qt is just a marble eel that iconveted to salt. inn the dt a 7 inch black volitan and a 3 to 4 inch emeror angelfish with a small clean up crew soon to be gone.

My brother (sk8shorty) has a show size clown trigger and the lion is prob 11 inches or so and they get along great. The trigger could "snap" at any time but he has shown no aggression so far and they have been together since they were juvis.

well i decided to just put him in so they have been in the tank for 2 days together. zero problems just my lion is a little scared. All have eaten and the dang trigger let a hermit crab take a piece of krill away from him!!!!

That's the thing with CTs: they can stay peaceful, for years sometimes, then kill everything in sight the next day. With a CT, IMO, its not a matter of "if", its "when" they go postal.
