clown trigger

i have a baby clown trigger and it had what i thought was fin rot. it had white things on the fins it's tail fin and anal fin. i tried treating it with some melafix but it just seemed to get worse. so then i put some ich medication and nothing happened. no other fish didnt get the disease. so then i decided to see if i can just pull off the dead peices of fin or the disease whatever it was. so i actually the pieces of the fin was easily pulled off. so my question is does anyone know what this was? should i have not pulled the pieces off? will it grow back? any info will be good thanks.

Did the white tiny things look like grains of sand? If so then it probably was ich, a common fish disease. If you "pulled" them off then it will come back.

It was more than likely lymphocytosis. It is non contagious in fish. Try posting this in the d/t forum, Beth, Ed, Terry, and the gang are all very knowledgeble in diseases. Bo

no it wasnt ich thanks for the reply but that's one thing i know it wasnt ich it really looked like fin rot.hmm thanks grouperhead

I would post in the disease forum about that problem. I would also advise you not to touch your fish when they are sick. That could stress them out during their illness and make it easier for them to die.
