clown trigger

i have a baby clown trigger and after two days of having it it's tail and anal fin had white clumps on it. i know for sure that it wasnt ich. but anyways i thought it was fin rot im still not sure if it is. i tried treating it with melafix but it seemed to get worse. then i through some ich medication just to seem if it would do anything but nothing happened. so then i thought to pull off the clumps so i did so now parts of the fins are missing. does anyone know what this was? will it come back? will freshwater dips help it or is that too stressful on triggers?

I dunno what it could be, but don't do a FW dip. FW dipping is VERY stressfull on the fish and does more harm than good IMO. Also, I'm not sure that I would have picked off the clump by hand(also very stressfull to the fish.) How is your water quality looking? Is it eating? Sounds like it may be some type of fungus(correct me if im wrong.) Also, if you could be a little more descriptive, it may help another member identify your problem. :D

my water quality is pretty good for the most part the salinity is just a little high 1.025 but not too high. he's eating he's showing the normal agrression and everything. the fins dont even seem to bother him.
