clownfish and brine shrimp

We just added our first fish to our tank. Two common clowns. They won't eat flake food so we got frozen brine (which they love). Is it OK to feed them just shrimp? Should we try anything else?
Oh by the way..they are the most personable and energeitc little guys (gals?). They come up to the front of the tank when they see you and are always swimming around together by the currents created by the powerhead! The kids love them.
(we have 37 gallon, 25 lbs live rock, live sand bed, a bunch of hermits (Scarlet and blue), a bunch of snails and a feather duster)

When I first got my percula clowns they would eat nothing. Then they would only take live brine. Now they eat anything.
Sometimes it takes a little while for them to become comfortable enough in your system to take to other foods.

We feed our clown frozen brine shrimp daily. Flakes for a treat. It's a good idea to have flakes on hand in case you run out of brine (or lose it...). Yes clowns are very personalable. I love mine!

A little off subject.
I had a cardinal that would not touch anything but live brine for a long time.
I then tried frozen blood worms and he gulped them up nicely.
He now also eats frozen squid and before the blood worms he wouldnt touch the stuff.
Fish are funny that way sometimes.

I have a sebae clown and I feed him frozen brine shrimp and flakes. Either one, he loves it. My friend once told me, if you're given a choice between steak and crackers, which one will you choose? Most will say steak, that's why I feed him brine shrimp and flakes just for snacks :D .

Thanks sooooooo much for the info on food stuffs. I'll give the clowns a few more days to adjust and try some flake food.
I'll also look into the other products you suggested Mr. Tang...thanks for the links!

Try enriched brine shrimp, it has vitamins and other stuff that makes it more nutritional!
I love my clown, too!!! ;)

I put flake food from SERA as well, it seems they do not like it, but one clown takes dried red worm as well. I think they will get used to it soon or later.

i alternate the food. i feed about 2 times a day switch between flake, small pellet in the morning and in the evening i alternate b/w brine and squid. i soak the brine/squid in sea chem liquid vitamins. you can try that to feed your fish, mine seem to like the food better when i do this. also i use liquid garlic about 2-3 times a month and they go nuts over that.

YOu can also try to wean them on to flake food. Many of the new marine flake foods are high in nutrients that your fish need to grow :) By the way if you have a pair of percula clowns the larger of the two is always the female. This is really prevelent in maroon clowns teh females normally being 2 to 3 times bigger than the male. All clownfish are born male. But their herarchy in the family group determines if they are male or female. When the female dies in a family group, the most dominate male will take her place and so forth. Good Luck :D
