Clownfish Bite!!!

While doing a water change on my 125 gal, I felt something nipping at my hand. I saw the female clown take a nip of skin out of my finger. A few days later, I had to move a rock & apparently there were eggs laid in that corner of my tank because my tomato clown had dinner! Anyone ever have this experience?

Definitely. Clownfish can have a bit of an attitude toward the aquarist, especially if they are breeding or very connected with their anemone.

This one obviously did. Think they will breed again and what are the chances I could raise these little eggs?

It's definitely not impossible to raise the fry. I am sure they will probably try to breed again as well.

pairs of fish go for BIG money if u sell them, or just sell the babies, and probably they will breed multiple times

Tomatoes are one of the more aggressive clowns. They are well known for taking a nip at the unknowing aquarist. Some can get downright militant. Maroons will do the same.

My Percula female is extremely aggressive. She attacks me whenever I put my hand in the tank. It doesn't matter where in the tank I put my hand, she goes for it. I am thinking of getting rid of the little sucker because I can't maintain the tank for the bites.

My female GSM is very aggressive, only when eggs are present. They lay evey 12 to 14 days like clock work. I just time work in the tank around the eggs.
kind of like doing construction at night...

Wow, I always hand feed my fish. Whenever my hand is in the tank the clown just swims around it. He also will sit in your hand.. His name is Marlin.

I've had a GSM nip my finger. Never took any skin that I remember....just nipped. My clown pair at home though, run. I would like to get my fish to eat out of my hand....I have my tank in a wall, so whenever I go to the back...all the fish are at the top ready to eat...it's funny because I can't even see the top from the back until I get on a step stool...yet they know I am there...

I cannot find where the eggs are being laid, but when I move a certain rock, there are eggs floating around getting eaten by other fish. The percs then freak out

Try putting a piece of slate or tile in the tank vertically on an angle .

We used to have a 55g reef with a clarkii and sebae. That clarkii was mean and very territorial! Any time our hands were in the tank, she would speed out of the rockwork and nip our hands, usually in the tender skin between fingers. She never broke the skin but man, did it hurt! Was glad when we finally got rid of her!
