Hello! I'm wondering if any of you can help me come up with reasons for losing fish.
This is the third time I've had my tank set up due to moves. The initial time I set it up I had no problems. All of my fish were super healthy, I had a starfish even. Then, I set it up for the 2nd time and within a couple of weeks of having fish in, they died one by one. Now it's the third time and I finally added two clownfish 3 weeks after the cycle was complete and the first has died already, got them four days ago, and the second one is on his way.
There is one thing that I can think of that is common here. We spray our house with home defense and the first time I set it up, we had been there for a long time, so there was no spraying while it was up. Here's another thing to think about. The tank was moved from Indiana to Denver and then set up and re-cycled. The next time, it was moved back to Indiana. Could a move that long cause some type of bad bacteria in the sand and rocks? All of the rocks and sand were kept in saltwater and the rocks were re-cured before going into the tank.
It is a 55 and my levels are
ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 10-15, pH 8.0-8.2
I do have things that are alive in there they are
3 emerald crabs
3 shrimp
about 10 snails
about 15 hermits
I lost two clowns and a goby in Colorado and now am about to lose my second clown here in Indiana.
Please, any suggestions would be helpful and is there a way to find out if my water is poisoned with the home defense? Is this even possible since all of my inverts are alive and happy? I acclimated all of my fish for just over an hour
