Easiest way for me is to look at the middle (mid-body) white band, if it slants slightly backwards and extends onto the rear part of the dorsal fin---sebae. Usually the seabae has 2 white bands and the clarkii has a 3rd band (small) at the caudal peduncle (tail). Here is a few pics, first sebae 2nd clarkii. HTH

yup! Plus check hte body shape. The picture above you can seen how the sebae has the longer slimmer shape while hte clarkii gets a bit fulelr inthe body.

OK... then what are these. They were sold to me as Black Perc's. I have seen some pics where juv. percs look different from adult percs.
Thanks

wow thats hard to tell. Here is a picture of the black perc, but it doesnt look like a perc. It looks more like the sebae.

Its a black perc, but could be a black saddleback. There are quite a few different types of clowns out there and its easy to confuse them. The only way to tell true and false perc is to count the spins in the top fin. Differ by 1...

As long as the mid body stripe does not extend out then most likely. (though my sebae does have a 3rd one, but its shape and mid body stripe give him away).

Ok... Mine look EXACTLY like the juv's in the pic TY-05 posted. Are there diffrent types of true percs? I found another pic of true black percs that are shaped just like a perc and are strictly black and white. No orange around the face.
Thanks for all the help!
