I have heard that sometimes you can have two pairs of clowns in a really large tank, or in a smaller one while they are young. In the case of the smaller tanks, I don't think it will work when the clowns get older. At least that's what I've been told on here.

with my experience 4 clowns percs are fine in a tank .....as long as there is not an odd number and 2 are mated. as of now i have 2 mated percs in a 90g and a maroon with 2 unmated in a 30g.....everyone gets along fine for now and its been 2 months with this trial.
next trial i'll see about adding the maroon to main 90g to see temperments. between mated and a single maroon.

I would have to stay away from maroon mixing....I had a pair in an old tank and they would pick on each other bad must not have gotten along so I had to get rid of one...but I have heard that they are the mean ones....Also I heard you can have about 4 false perc. since they are not as mean as the maroon...but this is just what I have heard and witnessed

I just added another perc with one that I have already had for 5 months. The older one is showing extreme dominance. Also, if another fish comes near the new guy, the bigger perc is backing them up. I hope that means he is saying "you are my new buddy but I am the boss but I will also protect you. Really it's the strangest behavior I have ever seen from my perc.
