I don't know about anybody else, i just noticed this. i use to keep my salinity of my tank down to 1.019-1.020 because it's harder for ick to survive in lower salinity. i've been doing this for probably 3-4 years. lately within the past year i decided to keep the salinity at 1.024-25 in my tank and the fish are doing better than ever. not that they were doing bad but u know what i mean. in my reef tank i keep it 24-25 and i have some fish that i would consider not the hardies such as a blue hippo tang. anybody else notice this too?

Yes, the 1.109-1.020 is very artificially low. All inverts in the tank - parasite or desirable - would be highly stressed at those levels. And quite possibly even the fish would not be at their best.

I agree!
I have had good, healthy, long lived fish with the higher (1.024 to 1.026) SG on the hydrometer.
