While netting mine tonight one of his large claws came off.
It will grow back, right?
If so, how long will this take?

Make sure that you are adding Iodine to the water. It is important for the molting process. After mine lost its claws it took about two full weeks to completely regrow a new claw. Mine shed twice in two weeks for this to happen.

Thanks for all the replies.
Mine seems to molt ever month or two.
I am going to wait it out as it is a new tank.
I was just not sure it would grow back.
He is kind of large and looks lop sided. But only half as dangerous!
He was really tough to catch. Fast little guy. It may have been my fault.
I always disliked him but now that he is in the big tank I want him to make it.

The same thhing happend to my CBS. It doesn't even need to molt, the claw can just grow back itself, although the molting helps.
PS Did your CBS eat its own claw after it fell off cuz mine did!

My CBS lost his claw during shipping. It grew back within a week, without molting. I think its important to have a good amount of calcium in the water for this to happen.

My CBS molts ,it seems, 1-2 times a month. I add a weekly amount if Iodine to the tank along with everything else.It does seem to help. Or doesnt seem to hurt anything.(however you want to look at it.)

I will check into the iodine thing. It has only been 3 days and he molted. I can't get a clear view yet but I think I see a stub of a leg !
