So I got my live rock yesterday and I have a question. Will about 3 hours of cold water, 60 degrees F kill the rocks?

No. it will be fine. The bacteria on the live rock can withstand various temperature and salinity levels.

That's what I thought, the ocean does have really cold spots.
To test the rock to see if it is dying, the smell test is the best right?

Not sure I understand enough to answer you. Was this something that happened or you are thinking of doing?? If it was shipped, you will most likely have some die off anyway, and the rock must be cured before adding anything. Is this for a new tank?? I don't think it will kill beneficial bacteria, but there are most likely some critters in there that it will kill!

I bought some LR from a friend yesterday, it was stored at his house in tubs with circulation and heaters. When It was transported it was also transported the same way. But when putting it in my new tank (just setup) the saltwAter that was added was cold about 60-65 degrees F. I imeadiatly put heaters I'm the tank and it took about 3-4 hours to get to temp. Evreything is new, sand rock premixed water.
Hopefully this helps I can't see anything right now because the water is still cloudy from the sand.

None of the issues should be a problem....... From what you are describing the tank will need to cycle anyway.........
