hello my friend. like you, I am a GAMECOCK. was at the Arkansas game this past week. worried we may be in for a thumping this weekend. but from what I've heard, we'll get a BETTER bowl if we LOSE to Florida because if we beat Florida, only the winner between Florida and Alabama will get a BCS bowl. but if we LOSE to Florida, the winner will go to the MNC game and the loser will go to a BCS bowl. thus, improving our bowl. but..... I'd still rather beat Florida.
also, like to give a shout out to fans of the pre-ordained, preseason national champion from the ACC that currently has a 4-5 record and resides in the upstate. I never want to hear the word "choke" come out of their mouths again.
Lol I know its great isn't it? My father may being tranfered to Greenvile and he was joking about beocming a Clemoson fan and I about hit him.
I just can't wait to Graduate and move back to Columbia, I want to go to a game so bad!

Yep...that's hubby's team....he loves to rub it in when my Cowboys lose.....we'll have to see how they fair with the Texas Tech team. Bet they slaughter them too. Rather see Texas Tech win then OU (stinks!).
Then I won't have to hear him rub it in. Oh well, there's still Bedlam. My team will kick OU's rear end!!!! Bet it's going to be a really good game this year. We've been neck and neck in the games.

Not sure I follow the logic here. The two teams playing the SEC championship game are the only ones that will go to a BCS bowl regardless of what happens along the way. Best way to get into a better bowl is to be ranked in the top 25. A loss to the Gators will bounce you guys well out of the rankings.

not true....let's say this......if Florida and Alabama both win out, then when they meet in Atlanta, Florida will be 11-1 and Alabama will be 12-0. if that's the scenario, then the winner of that game would go to the national chamionship game and the loser would go to the SEC's BCS tie-in game (not the national champ game). then, all the other bowl-eligible SEC teams would move up one bowl because you've got 2 SEC teams in BCS bowl games.
but, if Carolina beats Florida this week, then Florida will not go to the national championship no matter what happens in the SEC championship game. by that scenario, you'd only have one SEC team (rather than 2) in a BCS game. therefore, all the other bowl-eligible SEC teams would get a lower bowl.

The SEC would still likely get 2 in, Georgia is still 10th. Oregon St. could mess that up if they win out....which they won't.
Anyway, who really cares what Bowl you play in, if it's not a BCS Bowl nobody really cares that much anyway. Outback Bowl, Carquest Bowl, Mobil 1 Bowl....It's all the same, just win.

Under your scenario if Carolina beat Florida then Florida beat Bama Florida would be the tie in game but do you seriously believe a 1 Loss Bama team wont get snatched up for a at large slot in a BCS bowl? Depending on Bama's final ranking they could still be an automatic qualifier even with a loss to florida.
All that nonsense aside the other bowls are popularity contests, there is no particular order teams are drawn. By beating Florida Carolina would move into the top 15 more than likely and if they win out maybe the top ten. That would pretty much guarantee them a slot in one of the good non BCS bowls. If they lose they slide out of the rankings and probably don't make it back. That means playing in the Polygrip old farts bowl in Sun City Arizona.

the pay-outs to the programs, and the quality of opponent, are most definitely not the same.

no, if Carolina were to beat Florida and then Florida beat Alabama, then Florida would play for the BCS tie-in, but neither would play for the National Championship, so only one BCS team from the SEC. even if Alabama only has one loss, late season losses are generally weighed heavier than early season losses. so you'd have a 2 loss Florida team and a 1 loss Alabama team. neither of them are going to the championship game over 1 loss USC, Oklahoma, Penn State, or Texas who all had a loss earlier in the season. plus, you've still got TT who's undefeated right now.
the other bowls ARE taken in order. for example, the Outback Bowl is SEC #5 vs Big Ten #3. the only time they step out of order is when the BCS puts them out of order or when you have two conference teams who are virtually tied and one of them is, say Vandy, who doesn't bring any fans on the road. they'll take the team with the better traveling fanbase.
somebody mentioned Georgia. very unlikely they'll get a BCS game since they have 2 losses and both of them were in beat down fashion. plus, they've got an outside chance of losing to GT.

I suppose I see your point, to S. Carolina the Outback Bowl is a biggest Bowl you have seen and a tremendous achievement, U of Washington has seen 15 Rose Bowls and 2 National Championships....The difference between the Holiday Bowl and the Sun Bowl just doesn't seem as big.

Just teasin Pontius....U of W stinks right now

yeah, I guess what matters is what's most important to you.........where you've been or where you're headed? hmmm, honestly, looks like we're heading in the right direction and Washington? I heard recently that a bad coaching hire will set a program back at least a decade. so where does the Willingham hire put Washington? lol. also, let it be pointed out that Washington does NOT play in the SEC. 7 wins in the SEC, imo, equates to 10 wins in any other conference except the Big 12.

Layne Kiffon is interviewing at Clemson and U of Washington....I think we both better hope he comes to Seattle....Every week the Raiders look worse and worse and his price tag gets higher and higher, lucky I think U of Washington has more money than Clemson. We are also looking at Steve Sarkisian, and the coach from Utah, along with Jim Mora Jr, I don't see that happening though as he is in line for the Seahawk job and their owner is the richest in all of sports.
The Pac 10 is having a down year but still overall a better football conference than the Big 12, lets not get too excited about the Big 12, their biggest out of conference win for the entire conference is Cincy....Gimme a break.
USC doesn't seem to have any trouble with SEC teams, they haven't lost to one this decade or even had a close game (unless you count 23-0 against mighty Auburn). In fact USC has only had one lose out of Conference this decade and that was to Texas, in other words the teams that beat USC are in the PAC.

I'm not worried about Kiffen coming to Climpsun. now if Mike Leach comes, I'll be worried.

Can't get much worse, they've beat you what, 7 out of the last 9?.....Of course Clempsun plays in the ACC, 6 wins in the ACC would get Clempsun about 9 in the SEC.
