Color shades of the Yellow Watchman Goby?

I have been looking at pictures of aquariums and fish and I have noticed that some of the Yellow watchman shrimpgoby's are a very bright, vibrant yellow...and others are more of a brownish-yellow color. What causes this? Is it lighting, diet, health, or is it just the color that they are naturally born with? If you don't understand what I mean i will try to find some pictures for you all. Just curious about it, that's all. Thanks.

When I first put mine in my tank he was a very dark yellow but now he is very bright so it would seem to me to be either stress or diet. Are you looking at getting one?

Thanks for the reply, and yeah in a way.
In the next couple of months I am planning on setting up a 30 gallon reef tank and I am just looking into different types of fish to sort of "map out a plan" for what i want to live in my tank. I really love the vibrant yellow of the yellow watchman and the relationship that they can develope with the Pistol shrimp, therefore they are a major candidate. I am pretty sure that I am almost finished with my fish list, unless I come across a change. I didn't want to overstock the tank because I wan't to have a really good amount of corals in it. My list includes:
2 Percula Clownfish
1 Yellow Watchman Shrimpgoby
1 Tiger Pistol Shrimp
1 Boxing/Pom Pom Crab
That is what I am almost positive I want, but like I said...it could change. (I know i need more inverts, but i havn't got that far yet)

I love my yellow watchman. He is not very active but he is still one of my personal fav's. but if your wanting it for sandsifting purposes its not the goby to go with mine doesn't sift at all he only sits right outside his cave.

No no no, i don't want it for sandsifting purposes. I want a Watchman Goby because i find it's relationship with the Pistol shrimp to be fascinating. The Yellow Watchman is the most attractive(in my personal opinion) Watchman Goby, and I love the bright/vibrant yellow coloring, i was just curious as to why some Yellow watchman goby's are Yellow-brown, and others are bright yellow?

yeah it sure is, Do you know if you should purchase the Goby and the Pistol shrimp at the same time, or one before the other in order to have a better chance for a relationship?

Anyways, does anyone know the exact reason for the Yellow Watchman Gobys differences in colors?

haha!
I thought that they were rather peaceful fish though? I guess you don't always get a fish that fits the temperament label?
I think they are neat little fish.

My yellow watchman does the same thing. Some extra food landed on the sand in front of him and he guarded it. Everytime another fish got close he would open his mouth like he was screaming at them.

I got my YWG and Tiger Pistol Shrimp at the same time and it only took them a day or so to pair up.

I added a pistol shrimp recently and placed him just inside the cave to my yellow watchman's...the male came out and nailed the shrimp in about 10 seconds!
he just took it and shook it against a rock and it was all over...then he spit him out.

If you look close just below him in this cave, you can see why.
