What are some colorful zoa's that are easy to take care of,I am not good at identifying coral yet so if you have a picture that would be cool
This is my first reef

they're all basically the same...some palys can require supplimental feedings from what I heard, but I feed my tanks often so this isn't a problem for me...

thanks.what are some zoa's that grow pretty fast then?
all of the cheaper ones... lol..
I would get 1-2polyp frags of everything cool that you want and glue them to rocks and when everything grows.. it'll fill in and look great without costing you millions of dollars...

that sounds cool.I have this one lfs, that sells 5-10 polyp frags for 5 bucks.lol.So can different kinds of zoa's be really close to each other, because I have heard that there are some aggresive coral that will kill other coral if they are to close.

zoas will keep each other in check in a crowded situation.. not really that big of a deal...
I would recommend running carbon on the tank as they do release toxins in the water to impede other corals namely stonies from growing.
alot of LPS like frogspawn, torches, etc.. can sting and kill other corals yes. anenomes too... ricordeas can sting other corals that are too close... I would keep zoas and palys together and ricordeas separate.. stonies away from both.. etc..

umm they can release whenever...but they especially do it when stressed.. the toxins are not typically harmful to fish unless everything in the tank is pissed all at once... definitely run carbon..

Ok cool.So if the water quality stays in check, and there is no battle for territory then everything should be all good then right.lol.

relax on the battle for territory.. just dont put zoas and softies right next to stonies... and don't put stinging LPS right next to other corals... and RUN CARBON!!!

lol.ok.So back to the glueing part.I can glue the frag directly to the rock of my choice,so then when I want to frag it do I have to take out a chunk of my rock that has the original frag then?

you could exacto knife zoas off the rock..
I think what I used was loctite superglue gel...

Thanks for your help. This is my first reef and I have a lot of questions.
no problem.. best of luck...you'll definitely like zoas, palys, and ricordea mushrooms.. they're nice..
I personally dont like gsp (green star polyps) or xenia as they can spread quicker than the plague...

I have heard that.Is it true, that you can put xenia next to a rock, and then when it grows onto that rock you can frag it and sell it to the lfs for store credit?

yeah, but xenia isn't worth a whole lot and its very easy for it to get out of control... its your tank and you can definitely do what you want, just be forewarned.

to be honest.. right now I only have eagle eyes in my 20long... but stay tuned if you look at my "project you can't have" build.. you'll definitely see some cool zoas popping up..
If I hadn't sold off my biocube 14 and stuff out of my old 20long setup.. I'd have lots of stuff to post up pics of haha.

What kind of zoas are you looking to get.
spidermans, dragonflies, radioactives, eye of jupiter, hobgolins, fire and ice, supernova, blue ice, tubs blue, hypnotics, nebuldas, armor of Gods, rainbow palys, darh mauls, supermans, cherry bombs, mysticals, sapphires, atomic greens, pinks, and maybe more if I can get everything to fit...
I still need to fit in like 4-5 encrusting monitporas, some montipora caps, more sps, acans, micromussas, chalices, favias, and ricordea mushrooms.
