Colt and attaching

I just received a colt coral and was told that I couldn't use superglue b/c of the mucus it secreted. so I wrapped a rubber band around it not that tight though. It seems to have shrivled up a bit.
How long before I can take the rubberband off.

I am not exactly sure what to tell you but when i did the exact thing that you did, it attached itself within a day!

Yeah, colts are great fraggers. Very hardy. Grow like weeds. And they do attatch quickly. If you put it in a refugium tank (properly lit of course) it won't get bothered so you could take the 'band of sooner. Give it a day or two minimum. Some corals simply grow over the 'band at some stores I've been to. Either way, give it several days to be safe. Eventually you will see the "trunk" spreading out or over the rock like one flat solid root.

No. They like the light. Not to excess. But they need light. Not much though. More than tubastreas. Cause they don't need any. But they just have a tendancy to grow quickly.
