i have already surched the threads and surfed the net for info. which has gave me more qustions then answers.
here is what i got 3 days ago i had a water test done and everything checked out. i purchased leather toad stool, a green plate, and cult coral. all of the other corals are doing great but my cult has turned a vary dark shave of purple and more or less limp. i dont know what to do. i cant get a decent answer. some sites say high flow some say low, some say needs photoplantion, some say just light. some not so much light some say close as you can get to the top. i just dont want my invest to die. i will have another test run tomarrrow. but for the mean time i just want to know what is right and whats is wrong. my lights are from a sun pod the MH water temp 75.
PS i been on this forum for about a month its the greatest thing sence sliced bread i just wanted to say thank you all for all the cazy i ask and you all answer all the time

I have 2 colts, one is in ctr of tank under sunpaq cf lighting, the other is on the bottom. I got One to attach to a rock right away, and it opened after a week, the other took a couple of months...it would not attach, I had to finally tie it down with string...NOW finally after weeks of that, it is attached to a rock and opening. They still close sometimes, but not usually for more than a few hours....I would leave it alone and let it get use to it's new environment. I also only have them in light flow.

these leathers prefer higher light.. at least in my experience. What kind of light do you have and where in the tank is the leather positioned?

I thought you just added this coral?? If so, give it a few days, sometimes different corals take longer to acclimate is all.

i did just add the coral about 4 days now. all is better the colt was un happy he was to far down the LTA was pissed he was up to high and he moved him self all the way to the bottom them shoved him self deep up under the biggest base rock. my clown wont left it alone and some times nem well swell up then shrink really fast couseing the whole rock structure to move. my lever toad stool hasent gave me any problems he is growing out of a sea shell and is all way down on the sand. minues the NEM living under my main rock i have no more problems. i just had things not placed were they wanted to be. that and i think there were stressed from being moved from one tank to another. and then there is the water heater that went boom on me. so i bought the stealth heater couldet be more happy its to easy to control. sothank you all

Mine colt got pissy for awhile... give them time -- once they get acclimated (possible week or more) they'll come out. I had a heater short and the tank went up to 90 degrees and luckily didn't kill anything. My colt shrunk, turned purple for about 2 weeks... but after it got done with it's hissy fit it opened up nicely again.
Moderate flow is best for these but they don't stay open 24 hours a day normally (at least mine don't). I'll have one all shrunk up.. the other one next to it will be just as beautiful as can be.
THe more you try and move it and fiddle with it the more you may be pissing it off.
