I have 2 colt corals. I got both at the same time. One attached to a rock within a few days, and is open all the time. the other will not attach, and never fully opens. It is not all the way shriveled, just not spread out. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get it to attach, and open? Both are in the same tank. All water parameters are good.

i know i'm not answering your question (sorry) but you mentioned that your colt is not "attaching"? do colts move from the piece of LR they are attached to at the LFS and anchor down where it's set in the tank?

we bought our colt already attached to a piece of small rock at the base of the colt. once it began to open up, took about 2 weeks, it soon became top heavy so we've wedged the base in our live rock and it has been doing well since!

Ours drops branches that float around the tank and eventually latch on to something. We haven't ever worried about them and actually tried to attach them. We even had one that looked like it was growing in the sandbed like a real tree, then a fish started digging.... the colt is actually attached to the glass!!
Do you have room to kinda wedge it up against something? Like between two small pieces of rubble?
