colt coral

I recently bought a frag of a colt coral, that was not mounted to a rock. No matter how hard I try, I can not glue it to any rock at all. It was at the mercy of the current for a whole day. Now, it has fallen into crevice in my tank, where it gets good light, but no water movement, not to mention that it is laying on it's side in the sand.It has started to extend its polyps upward, but will it be ok on the sand like that? Will it be ok if it doesn't get too much water current? I heard that you can put a toothpick through there base to get them to stay, but it has already been through so much. Will it survive if I do that?

You can't really use glue because the colt excretes a mucus that the glue wont stick to. You have to either stick a toothpic through the base and rubberband it to a rock or you can use fishing line to "sew" it to the rock. Either way it has to be in a low flow area until it attaches or the toothpic/fishing line will just tear out.
The first time I tried it the base tore twice before I got it right and the colt is doing great now so they are pretty tough and yours should be fine if you get it settled soon.
