Do these corals go through times were they shrink up for a couple of days.Me and my brite ideas rearrange a couple of rocks and handled him a couple of times and somewhat moved him to a diffternt place not to far from where he was.It has been a full day since that and he is still small.

Leave him alone for a few days, these are one of the most hardy corals you can get.
Watch his polyps, you'll see them start to slowly open, little by little, then he'll regain his shape and come back to normal.
They are very sensitive to being moved and handled, but spring back slowly, but completely.
Make sure he's still getting light!

I have a colt that shrinks down every now and then. Maybe it is coincedental, but when I feed it, it ccomes back within hours. I thought the only needed light, but I have heard of people feeding them. Any thoughts?

I've found that mine will retract whenever moved or bothered. Normally only for a short time. Is it possible that you changed the current? Mine will take longer to recover if the current is changed . As for direct feeding...I've never really attempted to feed mine. My system is dosed with DT's on a regular basis...and I do feed the rest of the inhabitants every other day(rather heavy!). For the most part mine feeds from the light and water column. They are known to be extremely hardy and adapt well to changes....give it time.

I have two colt corals and I think they are very beautiful, let alone easy to keep. I dose my tank with phytoplankton about twice a week and the first one has grown about 50% since I first got it a couple of months ago. These corals love light.

My colt coral has always been a very large show specimen, but I noticed a big difference when I added a hang-in brine shrimp hatchery to the system. It is now about 2.5' across and nearly 2' tall when opened fully, growing too large for my 100-gal reef. It will soon be in my 200-gal grouper tank. If it grows too large there, I may have to frag it. lol I would suggest anyone that has inverts in their tank to get a brine shrimp hathcery, you will see the difference.
