what i usualy do is just cut off the stalk that you want to frag and then stick a plastic coffee straw (the little red ones) up through the middle and out the top. glue one end of the straw to the rubble you wish to attach it to and then push the colt down until it touches the rock, then use a 'blob' of glue at the top where the straw exits, dont glue the coral onto the straw, the blob is just to keep it from sliding up and off while it attaches.
after it attaches snip the straw off even with the top and it will grow around it and you'll never see it.
another way and maybe the safest for the coral is to use a ziptie and place it around the branch you want to frag off and slowly zip it together over a few weeks and let it slowly cut into the colt. the colt will heal it's self around the pinch point and just pretty much fall off when it gets tight enough with the ziptie. then you can glue the frag where you want it at, they arent as slimmy when you do it this way and the mother coras isnt as prone to infection.

Stargazer, I went through the same thing with my first colt coral. The things get huge. Cut mine into thirds and now they are all huge again :)
I sliced mine diagonally, using a brand new razorblade. Got about 3 tendrils when the cut was made. Mine never slimed. Try not to get too much of the body/base of the coral. Just enough to give you some surface area to attach the bottom to something.
The two frags I made from the original were attached to two dead coral skeletons. One was a plate coral skeleton and the other was a dead lobo skeleton. I didn't use glue. I used regular rubber bands to hold the coral against the old skeletons. Eventually they colt frags grew around the rubberband, just like a chain around a tree. No problems at all. They are all three huge now.
Hope that helps. I have a post out here somewhere showing the before and after pics. Give it a search if you want.
