Come out..come out

I have a 90 gallon reef tank with about half a dozen peaceful fish. Six days ago I purchased a Queen Anthias. She's been hiding in the rock since I got her. I have seen a flash of her twice so I know she is alive but she won't come out...not even to feed. I just read in the information section of this website that they like to swim in groups so they are not frightened. Do you suppose I should get a second or is it still too soon. Any experience or advice?

i wouldn't get another one at this point.
what are your other fish?
my experience has been that they hide because they feel threatened.

Most fish will hide out for a couple of days until they are sure that no other fish is after them for dinner. I don't think you have to add another one to the tank to make it come out. My Majestic angel was really shy, took him like a week until he was sure of himself. I used to walk up to the tank and it would dart behind some rock, but now it comes out even when I come up to the tank. So sooner or later your little fishy friend will get used to it's new surroundings and come out. Don't worry they can go without food for a couple of days, but you can tempt it with some live brine.

Thanks for the encouragement and advice. Patience has never been one of my virtues. I will wait. Maybe the little guy just needs some more time.
