Kind of off topic from my recent posts about equipment which I still haven't quite figured out but anyways...
For a fish only tank, what type of inverts can I put in?
Thanks everyone

I plan on using a hang-on-the-back filter for 55G is there a specific brand I should be looking into? All the articles I have been reading say the chemical filtration is a bag of GAC that is inserted somewhere. They mention the mechanical filter. So is there a slot the bag of GAC is put into the mechanical filter? Or am I completely off track?

For around $140 at walmart I recieved,
55 gallon tank
lids and lights that fit on them
hang on the back filter
heater
thermometer
I added 2 power head for circulation $20 each
live rock, bought 1 rock at a time, initial rock buy was 35 lbs. (can also get good inexpensive rock from auction site)
live sand $20 a bag, added 4 bags
test kit $45 shipped auction site
hydrometer $39 shipped auction site
pc lights $100 shipped on auction site
Where do you live. There might be people close by that has extra equipment and are willing to help.

What exactly are power heads? Do they circulate so the hang on filter can get a hold of all the water? You say auction site...what site is it? Just any?
I said in a previous post I lived in Canton, Michigan. Near Livonia, Westland, Plymouth, 25min from Ann Arbor. That vacinity if you didn't know where Canton is.

Sorry, did not catch the town post. Power heads just push water around. Alot of critters in the tank eat from the water column (what floats by) and the circulation adds oxygen to the water. Airstones and bubblers are not recommended for sw.

I posted this already with no answer but in a fish only tank which I would like to start with clown fish. What inverts should be added/could be added without making it a highly light dependent reef setting.
Also is there such thing a small tank for just sea horses? I read somewhere they should be housed alone. Any place I can look into that? Not sure if I woud do anything like it just something to look into.

Seahorses are fun but alot of work. There are several threads on here, do a search on them. You can add inverts, they are not light dependant. Cerith snails and hermit crabs is the way I would go. Auction site was

I was talking about. (You get the jist)

If i were to keep one species of animal such as a sea horse and had one maybe two in a small tank is it still hard to keep care of the water quality even if there are only 1 or 2 animals in there? besides a small cleaning crew.

The smaller the tank generally the harder to keep the water quality, but if it's just horses then I think that would be ok. I have not had horses in about 18-19 years. Did you search the "seahorses" threads? I know there are several people that keep them on here, just can't remember their names.

I'm not sure if it will be horses or not. I would like a smaller tank to cut back on the price. So my idea was even though it may be a little harder to keep if I cut it back to one or two fish or something more exciting like seahorses it would be more enjoyable. Are there any type of fish that would be recomended alone and fun to keep/watch. Also I know opinions may vary but if I do go with a smaller tank with one or two besides a cleaning crew...how small is too small? In a nano tank like the one I have in mind what is an ideal cleaning crew.

I'm not sure...my first decision would have to be what type of fish I would keep...what size it needs...if it can live with no or one companion etc.
Sea Horses are a possiblity but I'm not sure what else

You could try gobies. They are really cute, peaceful fish. I have a yellow clown goby and a neon goby. These two stay pretty small (only a couple of inches) and i heard they do well in small tanks.
And I wouldn't recommend getting anything smaller than a 5 gallon, but even a 5g is too small in my opinion.
