Computer help/advise...

So, a d'uh moment. Just should have went to Dell's Support site. Entered my service tag and got all the drivers. Not after some confusion on their most retarded download manager thing you're forced to use (while you can download one at a time, which I had to). Copied them to a usb key and installed. Only one didn't install, Intel Driver -- 82945G Express Chipset Family. Corrupt or missing files.
After my nap I will connect the computer to the internet and update windows.
I also downloaded my wireless card drivers, and I guess installed them, but the software with it, is not recognizing the card. I think maybe after windows gets updated it will work.

Glad you got it going. Your CD drive is a simple $30 to $50 fix. Get they cheapest CD you can buy and then installing it will only take you about half an hour. Most of that time will be trying to figure out how to open up the darn computer.

The first time changing a drive it will take him that long because of stupid things like this. I can do it in 5 flat now.

I am actually more surprised by this Dell after the problems, and sort of glad now it's fine. They actually built this thing pretty smartly. To get the side panel off you just pull the latch at the top, and it swings down. Everything seems like pretty standard components, standard square system board. And I really like the fan setup. Pulls from the front over the big cpu heatsink. To get the CD drive out, you just pull up on the blue tab top right.

Thanks Scott and thanks for all the input Dragon.
I do have some final questions though. Since I used the same partition to reinstall windows, my C: is still filled with all the files from before. However they all would need reinstalling again. I have the CDs, or can download all the stuff I want. Can I just go about deleting everything, programs at least? Is it fine to just right-click, delete, something like Microsoft office? The actual folders/files, since there's nothing on the add/remove programs. What about my old users' documents. So far I've just copied them. Can I safely delete that user? What about getting rid of the old Windows. I doubt I can just right-click-delete?

Are you set up to Dual Boot at this point? When you turn on the machine do you see a screen before Windows loads asking you to choose which Windows instance you want to load up? If not, then yes, it is probably safe to remove the old program files and user. Still not sure I would remove the Windows directory though. How big is the hard drive? If its big enough I would just leave the windows directory there.

Correct. I actually have 4 options, the correct fresh Home install, the Home install I goofed on (it hung up on a .cab file during install, the time I went to go check it out on the other computer and got back it had already restarted), the bad Media Center, and Recovery. It always just used to boot past Media and Recovery.
The drive is 250gb, and I have 105g used now that all is said and done. I guess it make sense just to let it be.
