np Melbourne, i got the responses i needed anyway :)
I decided afterwards to take some old AC adaptors from sega genesis and super nintendo...and I cut them off and joined them to the fans..
My halides go off two hours before my actinics....and they my actinics come on 2 hours before my halides...the fans are on the same timers as the actinics.

Azonic,
You said you used sega "Adapters"? You know that as long as they have enough amps, you only need 1 adapter. If it is a 12 volt, it will put out 12 volts to both fans. The only reason you would need 2 adapters is if it didn't have enough amps to drive 2 fans.

Hmm really? How do i find out how many amps the adaptor has? ....and how many amps the fans are...

ummmm slothy, I beg to differ here LOL the adapter should have the amp rating yes, most fan's don't, you have to find the company that made the fans and ask, or at least I had to. Most of the A/C adapters I had laying around the house would drive one or two fans (trial and error proved this point) but to drive all 5 of my fans off one power source I had to go buy a transformer and wire it myself, piece of cake really.

every pc fan (diff brands) here at work (i build all our pc's) have the ratings on the back of the fans.. 80mm fans @ .15 amps
but im sure most fans are rated damn near close to each other of eqiv size
