mine got to close to my heater and ended up nothing but a blob stuck on the heater. Didn't hurt anything in the tank. That happened the night before we were to move all the equipment in the sump. We had it about 4 months before that fateful night. Go figure.

When my died, he was shriveled up in the sand. He was visable though. Everything was great in my tank even though he was dead. But... when I took him out ewwww!! Nasty smelly gross. I took the sand from under him also just in case. I really hope you find yours alive and well.

Just one thought you might want to do.
Next time you do a water change, take a length of tubing that fits over your powerhead outlet. Take the tubing and blow all your rocks off to get out an detritus, if you anemone did indeed meltdown this should blow out anything that may be left, it will also help to clean out the pours of your rocks.
