Confused about RO/DI units please help me....

I am looking to start a reef tank in a few months. I keep reading and understand the concept of the RO/DI units but HOW to use them is confusing the heck out of me. Most are rated by gallons per day. I am shooting for a 120 gallon tank. Does this hook onto the sump or actually the sink I will be getting my water from? Thanks!!

I have mine hooked up under my sink so I can use it for drinking water too. Alot of people put theirs in the washroom or garage so they can keep a big trash can full. Go for the most gpd you can afford.

the GPD is really false since it has to do with PSI and temp. My water temp is about 50 degrees and PSI is at 80.1. So from my Kent Marine RO/DI 60 GPD I get about 60 to 70% of that.
Get the biggest you can get and look online. I got my NIB Kent Marine MAX60HiS for $199. The filters are cheap if you look around for them.

RODI filters are hooked up to a water source (sinks usually). They get water from the cold inlet and drain waste into the drain tube.
mine is hooked up under the sink in my bathroom. my FISH get the good water....not my DAMN KIDS!!!!

Mine is about 10 feet from my tank. I installed a 1/2" tee right in main water line, before my water tank, and installed a gate valve to turn on/off.

I got a 110gpd unit from ---- for $125 w/shipping, it does have an auto shut off switch, and love it, I have mine installed in the laundry room, easier to get to, and the tank is just on the other side of the wall. I couldn't see spending $300 for those other units. If you would like to know where I got my unit just email or pm me.

i got my 6 stage RODI off ---- for 159 plus shipping. i've already made my money back and am VERY pleased with it. mine has a shut off valve in the feeder stem off the cold inlet. i can still use the sink without the RODI feature because the RODI is in line and doesnt replace the sink faucet.
just my .02......
