I need some solid specs on where my temp and sg should be on a 300g fish only tank, no LR or inverts. it has been running since sept 05 and i am getting conflicting numbers. someone please tell me where these readings should be.
I also have a ich problem, ive been treating with copper to no use, i started lowering the salinity yesterday for hypo treatment.

Good Morning Power
from my readings and searches on temp for a SW tank between 78 - 82 is the norm >> regarding the SG. 1.020 - 1.025 is the desired levels. IF its only for fish it can be towards the lower end of the scale. closer to 1.020, if your going to be housing corals and the like. your SG needs to be towards the upper end of 1.025
Redarding ich. do a search on HYPOSALINITY

we just treated our fish in a QT tank with hyposalinity, temp at 82 Copper and Garlic. again do a search on the HYPO treatment there are several views and opinions on how to do it
PS weve had our fish in QT for 6 days now and the ICK on them is no longer viewable.
Hope this helps. OH! i would suggest investing in some LR (live rock) it really made a huge difference in our water parpameters once we added it. make sure its "cured" before you place it in your tank. or cure it yourself before hand. also do a search on "cured" if you dont know the difference between the two
THE KEY is NOT to make SUDDEn adjustments to your tank in either TEMP or SG do them in small increases or decreases. meaning NO more then 2 Degrees in either.
Good Luck

thanks for the reply and the tip about LR, will they survive in 1.020 and copper?.
i have read almost all of the threads and FAQ on hyposalinity treatment on this site.
is it ok to do with copper still in the tank? and im doing this in my display tank is that ok?
i do have a 10g tank but its not setup and its too small fot the 20 fish that i have.

THE COPPER should not be used if you have LR or invertibrates. or corals.
once you do the treatment get some carbon for your filter let it absorb the copper. also do a 10% water change every other day for a week.maybe even 2 weeks to get it out. then start adding live rock
IMO ask beth to make sure on the LR but i believe im sure it harms the little critters thats in them...
any comments from all you "experienced" aquarists would be greatly appreciated. as im by no means an expert GRIN
