Just take a gun and someone shoot me PLEASE Low levels of ick is like being almost pregnant you either are or are no your fish either have ick or they don’t if they have it treat for it if they don’t THERE IS NO ICK

AND with tangs, when they get sick they get ich.
Ich is like humans getting the flu.
Shoot me again please

Seems to me if you Hypo a fish and kill the parasite you eliminate the chance of spreading the parasite. But I hear so much about Hippos and Ich that wonder if it is something else?
no ick means no ick means no popping out

Tangs are prone to carry Ich. They are also prone to getting stressed and therefore falling victim more easily to Ich already present.
Rest assured, Tangs are not some kind of dark aquatic sorcerers that summon the parasite to infect your tank late at night

Thanks! There is a school of thought, often expressed on this forum, that says ich is ALWAYS present in tanks. IMO, a good understanding or this parasites life cycle is a must for all hobbiests and will de-bunk this school of thought. I seem to remember reading that certain fish, maybe especially some tangs, are more prone to ich attack because of their tiny scales (maybe not). If any fish is properly QT'd and put into a ich-free DT; getting ich is impossible. I'm not pushing it; but, I think using copper(Cupramine brand) or hypo-salinity in QT is worth considering. IMO, using carefully monitored copper in QT is not at all harmful; many holding facilities and wholesalers do it regularly. There are fish, such as dwarf angels, that don't tolerate copper well..so check first.

Joe, I just edited and added more silver-tongue drivel. BTW, I'm guess I've been listening to too much political jabber, today being your State's primary and all....

So want to hear a funny? On my "Last" fish that I added to my display I trusted the source and added Ich to my tank. All that after QT ing every other fish for 1 month. I have since pulled that bad boy out (who died) and treated my tank with Kick Ich and all has been cured for some time now with no repeat outbreaks....
But here is the funny...My Queen Angel, Maroon Clown, Yellow & Naso Tang did not get ich..Only my Lion and Tusk got it.
My guess is the Herb's / Omni's ate Nori soaked in Zoe and selcon as well as Form 1&2 and the Carnivores did not.
So that debunks the Myth of Tangs get it first.

Yeah, the theory that ich is always present and just lying in wait just doesn't work. All of us, who have kept SW fish for a while have seen a fish die, over time, for no apparent reason. They stop eating, then just fade away. We know its coming and there's noting we can do; maybe its just old age. These fish certainly have compromised immune systems and if the "ich is always there" theory were fact; why wouldn't they be covered with ich sores (we see the white dead tissue, not the actual parasite) by the time they die?

That was a great game, nobody expected the Packers to even make the playoffs, much less host the NFC title game. But, I'll be pulling for Eli & your Giants. But, just to stay on topic: I know how you QT. Have you ever seen ich appear out of nowhere?
