Hey All.....
I have a 20 gal. QT tank w/a black wood stand, the type
of stand that one would buy in Petsmart or Walmart, that
comes in a box and has to be put together....stand is 13"x 25"...
the questions are...
1- is it possible and is it safe to put wheels on this type of
stand? if so...
2- can you please tell me what kind of wheels should I
purchase from Home Depot or Lowes ?
3- the weight rating they should be ?
4- how many do you recommend for the stand ?
Thank you very much....
Regards....

Anything is possible... 20gallons of water weights around 167 pounds. I don't know that a stand like you described would hold up.

If your idea is to be able to cart your tank around, beware. Not only for the tank's inhabitants, but have you ever toted something like this before? Big mess, unless the tank is only 33% full, more or less. The initial force to move the thing would be greater than to keep it rolling so that first push would send the tank into a mini-tsunami like state for a few moments as 1/2 your water sloshes all over you, then the floor, then you again, etc. till the inertia stops or the water empties.
Try it though;)

Hey All....
Thanks for the responses....
and due to your input...I will put a nix on the idea...
TimO.....that is the reason for the wheels as we are not
really sure where we want to put this tank yet....My 125 & 37
are exactly where we wanted them, but not sure with this one...
I figured since it was only a 20 gal and the weight is not
much, it would be okay...but considering your input in this
matter and the fact that the stand looks good but really
is probably a piece of s**t, I definitely will not do it.....
Thanks much guys....

Yea, and as all cheapo stands will hold a stationary tank for eons, the twist and torque of movement under load does not tend to tighten any bolts, if you know what I mean.
